Barry Patterson was born in Widnes, UK. He completed an Arts Foundation course at Chester College of Further Education and went on to graduate from De Montfort University with a degree in Illustration. He currently lives in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Barry is an established illustrator with an international client list, principally based in New York, London, Singapore and Hamburg. He has spent many years working in the commercial market and has developed a wide and diverse range of illustrative and painterly skills. Barry now works in education, as an illustrator at the Open University, and remains available for commissions.
Barry also exhibits paintings and produces limited edition prints. His pieces explore a sense of mood and atmosphere and the subtle shifts between abstraction and realism. His recent works have let go of figurative representation to consider a more emotional response to landscape evoking memories of place and time.
